Presidential Employment Stimulus programme (Youth Employment Opportunities)

In helping to draw more young people into the economy, the government has under the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention initiated various youth development and empowerment initiatives to support young people. 

1. Social Employment Fund

  • Wits Health Consortium: Aims to train up to 200 health advocates as community health workers each year
  • Ford Resource and Engagement Centre (FREC) through Future Families is a micro business development centre that assists Entrepreneurs
  • Lima Rural Development Foundation supports agriculture and food security projects
  • Seriti works in communities to hone capabilities in tandem with its social partners and community champions to create work opportunities; alleviate poverty and inequality; strengthen caregivers; and nurture stronger, food secure, resilient economically viable communities and township enterprises.
  • Small Projects Foundation is an NGO based in East London to provide 3 000 youth service opportunities in youth service for Health and Education Services.
  • Siyavuna trains smallholder rural farmers in under-resourced communities in the Ugu and Umdoni District
  • Afrika Tikkun  provides development solutions including education, health, nutrition, personal development and skills development for young people
  • The Craft + Design Institute offers a range of activities that help improving creative businesses
